Mary, keep telling yourself it could be worse. And believe me, it could be. I have so many challenges with my son who is now in adult services and living in a group home, but I am still very involved. Still fill out those crazy forms that ask the same ole' questions! Still trying to explain to staff why he does the things he does and responds the way he does. But yet, I know many Moms that have more challenges that I do and we just try to support one another--that is what gets us through the day. Believe me, there are communities that have fewer options than we do here. I just feel so fortunate to have my son closer to me, instead of in another city. Looking back, I don't know how I coped with living on the road for the last 4 years in order to be involved with his care.
Things are better now, although it doesn't seem like it some days. There is hope for the future, we just all have to keep working towards our dreams!
We moved 3 times before my son was five. The last time, I just put those boxes in the spare room and shut the door and they didn't go anywhere! LOL!
Keep your chin up, Mary. Mary is lucky to have you for her Mom!
